There is no longer any question if ghosts are real. If you’d been holding on to the slim hope that the hauntings were some elaborate setup by a clever murder/ real-estate investor you would have been wrong. I was wrong.
Ghost possession is not only real in Horseshoe Bay it’s also doing splendidly. Mrs. Hudson’s ghost decides to take up residence in poor George. It’s spooky and weird but I liked that it answered the age old question of, “how do ghosts do all that stuff?” Like turn on the water and write creepy messages on mirrors in blood… I’ve always wondered how non-corporeal beings could do something like grip a handle and turn. Here’s your answer, they’re doing it while hitching a ride in some unsuspecting alive person.
This could have ended up really bad for George but lucky for her and for us her mom is some sort of psychic with eastern roots. I actually like Georg’s mom and her sisters. I like that we see why George works so hard and is the way she is. But I wish her mom was more 300 Fox Way and less the alcoholic neglectful way. (If you don’t know what I mean by 300 Fox Way you haven’t read the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater. If you haven’t then you should!! It’s about 300X more interesting and clever than this episode of Nancy Drew.)
The rest of the episode was really just them catering a fancy party. It was a little boring. They introduced a new character, one of the Marvin’s he could have nefarious plans afoot, we don’t know yet, but he’s definitely been put on our screens for eye candy and for a love triangle between him, Nancy, and Ned… I hate love triangles.
At the very end Nancy unearths a time capsule from the graduating class of 1999 Lucy’s graduating year. 99 also happens to be the year Buffy the Vampire Slayer graduated!! Maybe this would have turned out better if they’d called in the Slayer all those years ago. This part was interesting because it did bring us back to the dead Lucy angle and she definitely had some kind of connection to the Hudson’s. How the Drews will play into it remains to be seen…
Have you been watching the show? What do you think so far? Have you read the Raven Cycle and are you as in love with those characters as I am??? Let me know in the comments! See you next week.
